Kazan's head Ildar Metshin entered the top three leaders of the national ranking of mayors based on the results of April and May 2026. The study was conducted by the Information Communications Center "Rating," evaluating the work of leaders from 88 cities across the country.
The first place was taken by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the second by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov. Ildar Metshin rounded out the top three leaders.
The Kazan mayor received high praise from experts for a number of significant initiatives. In particular, he spoke at the plenary session of the "Good Kazan" forum, where he reported that about 2 billion rubles from grant and charitable funds were allocated for the development of an inclusive environment in the capital of Tatarstan. Additionally, Metshin, as the honorary chairman of the BRICS+ cities and municipalities association and president of YUNAKLA, presented Kazan's experience in international cooperation at the KazanForum platform. During the reporting period, the mayor participated in the business forum "Minsk and Kazan: Twin Cities - A New Driver of Development." Furthermore, Metshin became a laureate of the "Service" award with the project "Kazan. Unity in Diversity."
The ranking is published on a regular basis and takes into account the opinions of experts: political scientists, economists, journalists, and public figures.
