Elabuga is preparing for Sabantuy.

      The Plow Festival will take place this year in Yelabuga on June 6. Traditionally, it is hosted by the city racetrack.

      Sabantuy marks the end of the spring fieldwork. For the villagers, it is a long-awaited opportunity to breathe out after the harvest and have fun to their heart's content. The organizers promise a bright, soulful, and memorable celebration − with colorful performances, beautiful costumes, and national spirit. The festival will open with the beloved horse races. Then, a rich program will begin. As the head of the Culture Department of the Yelabuga District, Elmira Akhmetova, said, it will include national games, Kuresh wrestling, songs, and dances.

      − We have prepared a beautiful prologue titled "Treasure of the Nation," − says Elmira Akhmetova. − We invite everyone to participate in our Sabantuy.

      There will be trade rows with national products and gastronomic delights for guests. The traditional competition "Best Tent of Sabantuy – 2026" will gather enterprises from the city and district, as well as educational institutions. Rural settlements will decorate their courtyards. The spirit of Sabantuy is rural, and it is the villagers who remain the main guardians of traditions here.

      Those who love movement and laughter can look forward to sack races, carrying a yoke, climbing a smooth pole, and running with a spoon in their mouth.

      The invited star is the honored artist of Tatarstan, Firdus Tyamaev. The next day, June 7, Sabantuy will come to the villages: Dyum-Dyum, Almetyevsk, and Morty.
