The French "Paris Saint-Germain" with Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov defeated the English "Arsenal" in the Champions League final and became the tournament's winner for the second consecutive year. The regular time of the match at the "Puskás Aréna" in Budapest ended with a score of 1:1. Arsenal's goal was scored by Kai Havertz (6th minute), while PSG's goal came from a penalty by Ousmane Dembélé (65). No goals were scored in extra time. In the penalty shootout, PSG players were more accurate – 4:3. Safonov started in the Parisian lineup and played the entire match. The Russian goalkeeper did not save any shots in the post-match shootout – Arsenal players sent the ball wide of the goal twice.
PSG became the Champions League winners for the second time in its history. A year ago, the French team defeated the Italian "Inter" in the final (5:0). Paris became the second club in history after Real Madrid (2016, 2017, 2018) to win the Champions League for two consecutive seasons after the tournament format changed in the 1992/93 season. Arsenal became the runner-up for the second time in the tournament's history.
