      Surgeons from across the country came to Kazan this week to participate in a specialized congress. More than five hundred leading specialists discussed and shared experiences in emergency surgery, with particular attention given to the topic of providing emergency care in wartime conditions. The first master class for emergency medical staff and nurses from all over Russia as part of the Kazan Congress of Surgeons. The event's program covers various areas of emergency surgery – bleeding, traumatology, orthopedics, vascular and thoracic surgery. "The Kazan Congress demonstrates that representatives from all leading surgical schools and surgical clinics in Russia are present here. Because this is not just a meeting of professionals, but a platform to analyze what has been done and outline directions for further development," said the president of the Russian Society of Surgeons, chief surgeon of Moscow, Alexey Shabunin. This year, a separate block was also dedicated to military healthcare: assistance to the wounded and injured, prevention of complications, and the peculiarities of surgeons' work in extreme conditions. "During the special military operation, the role of surgeons is sometimes crucial. Today, I would like to note that Tatarstan doctors have joined forces with military medics and are doing significant work in rehabilitating the wounded," said the Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, Almir Abashev. From practice to theory and experience exchange – in addition to discussing current issues, doctors presented their new inventions, technologies, and methodologies. Special robots were presented for practicing cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills. For example, a girl named Lisa, her condition is monitored via a tablet. The tablet displays a compression graph, and it is also possible to monitor pulse, oxygen levels, and breathing rate. Nearby, cardiopulmonary resuscitation has been fully automated – now, instead of human efforts, a machine will sustain life. It takes on the heavy physical work, ensuring the ideal frequency and depth of compressions. This is critically important during patient transport or when there is a shortage of staff. "A mode is set; if it's a child, then 15 to 2, if an adult – 30 to 2, and indirect heart massage is performed in automatic mode. The device assesses the resistance of the victim's chest and optimizes efforts to ensure a compression depth of 53 millimeters at a rate of 110 compressions," said Konstantin Nevsky, deputy general director of the scientific and production enterprise. Such equipment allows rescuers to continue resuscitation during the transport of the patient in narrow spaces or inside a moving ambulance. In Moscow, this technology is already widely used; in Tatarstan, it is currently only in the 7th city hospital.

      Here, devices are also presented to improve surgeons' performance during operations. Surgeons, emergency medical staff, nurses, and healthcare representatives from all over Russia gathered in Kazan to exchange experiences. The Congress discussed current and problematic issues of providing assistance to the wounded and injured, preventing complications, and the peculiarities of surgeons' work in extreme conditions.
