According to updated data, the youth population in the Republic of Tatarstan at the beginning of last year, 2025, was exactly one million citizens aged 14 to 35 years.
As reported by RBC, citing a statement from the Minister of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, Azat Kadyrov, made during a meeting of the State Council's committee on social policy, the main reason for such a sharp decline in indicators is an objective demographic pit. He explained that the numerous generation born in the mid and late 1980s has already reached the age of thirty-five and has exited youth age, while those born in 1991 are reaching this age this year, which has led to such a sharp statistical drop. In response to a question from the head of the social policy committee, Alexey Sozinov, about the prospects of discussing at the federal level an increase in the youth age to 39-40 years, Kadyrov expressed his personal opinion that it would be advisable to shift the lower age limit as well. The minister clarified that the department is actively working with children under 14 years old, which is inevitable, as working with a fourteen-year-old teenager who has already practically formed their worldview by the age of 10-12 often means working in vain, since it is extremely difficult to explain values to them, except in stressful situations, which one would prefer to avoid. In addition, Kadyrov added that work with a younger audience is currently limited by youth and budget legislation, but the issue requires broad discussion. Sozinov supported the minister, calling the topic quite debatable and requiring additional attention. It is worth noting that in September 2025, the head of the Public Council under the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Abramov, proposed raising the upper limit of youth age to 40-45 years, and the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, called this idea rational, while according to the classification of the World Health Organization, youth is considered to be people up to 44 years old. Earlier, it was reported that since the beginning of this year, fraudsters have stolen more than 1.5 billion rubles from the residents of Tatarstan.
