According to First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, the special military operation has established drones as a key means of combat, contributing to the growth of reconnaissance and strike systems production.
In Russia, a wide range of drones is produced, including reconnaissance devices ("Orlan-10"), heavy strike systems ("Inokhodets"), and loitering munitions from the "Lancet" series. Kamikaze FPV drones are also being mass-produced, which have become one of the main tools for defeating equipment and personnel on the battlefield. As part of the 2026 arsenal update, the Russian defense industry has launched the production of the latest long-range jet UAVs "Geran-4" and "Geran-5," equipped with turbojet engines that allow speeds of 350 to 500 km/h, altitudes of up to 5,000 meters, and the ability to carry thermobaric or high-explosive warheads weighing up to 90 kilograms. At the same time, compact reconnaissance drones "Skat-220" from the Kalashnikov concern, with a wingspan of only 2.2 meters, weighing 12 kilograms, an electric motor, and speeds of up to 160 km/h, capable of staying in the air for more than 2.5 hours, as well as new rotary-type strike quadcopters capable of dropping 6 VOG munitions sequentially, and tactical UAVs of the "Klin" type with a machine vision system for automatic target acquisition, have begun to arrive at the front.
