From June 1 to September 30, specialists from the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan, together with employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic and the State Auto Inspection, will carry out activities to identify excess pollutants in the exhaust gases of vehicles. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan. Inspections will take place on the main highways and checkpoints of the republic. This operation is being conducted for the 44th time. Its main goal is to reduce the negative impact of road transport on the environment and the health of residents, which aligns with the objectives of the national project "Environmental Well-Being." In 2025, ecologists checked 6,497 vehicles, including 6,007 passenger cars, 270 trucks, and 220 buses. A total of 168 vehicles, including 151 passenger cars, 12 trucks, and 5 buses, failed the environmental inspection. The highest number of violations was found among older vehicles manufactured before 1986, with fuel classes 0 and 1. No violations were recorded for new vehicles with a sixth class.
Ildar Shakramov, head of the air quality department of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan, noted that there is a stable trend in the republic towards a decrease in the number of vehicles with high levels of pollutants in exhaust gases. This figure has decreased from 7.7 percent in 2016 to 2.6 percent in 2025. This dynamic is associated with the gradual renewal of the vehicle fleet, the retirement of outdated vehicles, and the production and sale of motor fuels with improved environmental characteristics at gas stations.
Inspections are conducted using gas analyzers and smoke meters. Inspectors will hold explanatory conversations with vehicle owners found to have excess pollutants and will draw up protocols for administrative offenses. Raids will take place in thirty districts of Tatarstan. More than 6,400 vehicles are planned to be inspected.
