The future of global energy was discussed in St. Petersburg ahead of the SPIEF.

      In the run-up to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, leading representatives from business, science, and government discussed the prospects for the development of global energy and the role of technological changes in the industry. The discussion took place during a business dinner organized by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in collaboration with the "Global Energy" Association. Participants discussed the agenda for the upcoming forum, as well as the impact of digitalization and artificial intelligence on energy and the scientific field. Special attention was given to biotechnological projects, including one developed with the participation of "Tatneft."

      One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the announcement of the shortlist for the 2026 Global Energy International Award. It includes scientists and specialists from Russia, China, Mexico, the United Kingdom, India, Cyprus, the United States, and Switzerland. The names of the laureates will be announced on July 14 at a ceremony that will take place in Almetyevsk.
