       Why is the topic relevant right now? Summer is a time of joy, travel, and long-awaited rest for children. However, it is also a period of increased risk on the roads. According to statistics, during the summer holidays, the number of traffic accidents involving children increases by 20-30% compared to the school year. In the Laishevsky district, we are already recording violations of traffic rules among minors: this includes crossing the street in unauthorized places, ignoring traffic light signals, and riding bicycles without adult supervision. Therefore, preventing child road injuries during this period becomes a priority task for us.

       Main threats and statistics for the district

      In the first half of 2026, there were 4 traffic accidents involving children recorded in the Laishevsky district.

      The most dangerous situations arise:

      In pedestrian zones: children run onto the roadway outside of crosswalks while playing ball or chasing vehicles.

      On bicycles and electric scooters: 40% of child traffic accidents in our district are related to faulty vehicles or rule violations (riding on sidewalks, lack of reflective elements).

      At night: in summer, children stay out longer, and the risk of collisions with cars increases during dark hours.

      It is important to note: 8 out of 10 accidents involving children occur due to the fault of adults – parents, grandparents, who do not supervise the child's behavior on the road.

       Specific preventive measures from the traffic police department

      "In the Laishevsky district, we are implementing a comprehensive set of measures:

      ✅ "Road Alphabet" for schoolchildren:

      Before the summer holidays, 13 thematic lessons were conducted in schools in the Laishevsky district and in open school camps with the participation of traffic police inspectors. The focus is on situational training: children learn how to act in emergency situations (for example, how to cross the road correctly when a car suddenly brakes).

      ✅ Control over children's transport: Our inspectors check children's bicycles and SIM for the presence of reflective elements, bells, and brake functionality. We remind parents: children under 14 must only ride bicycles with pedal drive (electric scooters and mini-mopeds are prohibited for them!).

      ✅ Operational actions: From June 1 to August 31, we conduct daily raids in dangerous areas. Fines for traffic violations with child passengers have increased: for example, transporting a child without a child restraint device (car seat) incurs a financial liability of 5,000 rubles.

      ✅ Working with parents: Before the summer holidays, youth inspectors reminded students about the importance of obeying traffic rules, distributing informational leaflets with safety tips for the summer period. Traffic police and the State Budgetary Institution "BDD" met with parents in kindergartens and schools. They spoke at parent meetings and meetings with labor collectives on the topic "Child Safety on the Road." Let us remind you: parents bear full responsibility for their children up to 18 years old!

      ✅ What needs to be done for children's safety on the roads

      "Road safety is not only the duty of traffic police inspectors but also the responsibility of each of us. Here’s what you can do today:

      🔹 For parents: Never leave a small child alone by the road, even for 5 minutes. Check the knowledge of traffic rules with your teenage child: ask questions on the way to the store or the dacha. Use car seats when transporting children: 80% of injuries in traffic accidents can be avoided if the child is secured properly.

      🔹 For children: Remember the "three rules" on the road: Look – listen – think (don’t rush, don’t get distracted by your phone). Cross only on a green signal. On a bicycle – only on bike paths, wearing a helmet and with a reflector!

      🔹 For drivers: Slow down in pedestrian zones and near schools. Be careful when dropping off children from transport – accidents often happen at this moment.

      🔹 For all road users: Report unsafe situations to inspectors (for example, if you see children playing on the roadway or a drunk driver). United efforts save lives.

       Summer is a time when children become more independent. But independence must be combined with safety. In the Laishevsky district, we are doing everything possible to minimize risks. However, without your support, dear parents and residents of the district, our efforts will be incomplete.
