Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan detained young people who took more than 70 million rubles from a resident of Almetyevsk.
Jewelry, watches, collectible coins, orders, and medals that were handed over to the courier belonged to the 72-year-old grandfather of the deceived girl. Under the threat of criminal prosecution for financing terrorists, the fraudsters convinced her to let unknown young men into her grandfather's house. The fraud was committed with the participation of a resident of Almetyevsk and young people from Korolev and Syzran. They are 18 and 20 years old. The guys, who had never met before, were united by a sense of fear of responsibility for a crime they did not commit. All three dictated the code from the SMS under various pretexts. The girl was offered to undergo a medical examination at one of the city clinics, while the young men supposedly needed to urgently undergo a military medical commission at the enlistment office. The first one dictated the code wishing to refuse the services, while the guys thought they had signed up for a doctor's appointment. Everyone, located in different cities of Russia, began receiving calls from representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Rosfinmonitoring. The fraudsters convinced them that the state services had been hacked and that money had been transferred from their bank accounts to banned organizations. Under the dictation of the callers, they installed applications for video conferencing, during which each was shown powers of attorney in the name of a citizen of a foreign state, who could harm their loved ones and themselves. After that, an FSB officer joined the conversation and threatened them with criminal liability for financing terrorism. The young men were offered to become freelance employees of the FSB and conduct a search in the house of one of the suspects living in Almetyevsk. While the guys were taking a taxi hired by the fraudsters to the specified city, the fraudsters asked the girl about the nearest wealthy relatives and convinced her that her loved ones and their savings were in danger. This relative turned out to be the grandfather of the victim. The fraudsters offered to assist in conducting the search and let their employees into the house. By this time, the young men had arrived in Almetyevsk and immediately, at the direction of the same fraudsters, purchased an angle grinder at one of the construction stores and headed to the specified address. The girl let the strangers into the house, showed them the safes, and went home. The young men packed the jewelry, and all this time the fraudsters were connected to the video conference and watched what was happening. When everything was finished, they were told that an FSB officer would come now, to whom they needed to dictate the code and hand over the bag. They were thanked for their work and asked to spend the night in the house and sign the protocols in the morning. The real police officers, who arrived in response to a report from a familiar homeowner who discovered the uninvited guests, told the guys that they had been communicating with fraudsters all this time. While the guys were resting in the grandfather's house with a sense of duty fulfilled, the fraudsters sent the girl to the bank for money. They asked her to withdraw one million rubles from her account and send it to them. Fortunately, there was no money in the bank that day, and the girl went home. At home, her mother was waiting for her and told her that she had been deceived by fraudsters. The young men were taken to the police station and gave confessions. A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud." A preventive measure in the form of an obligation to appear has been chosen against the suspects. The investigation continues.
