Patrushev urged regions to increase the pace of work in the waste management sector.
A meeting on the development of the solid municipal waste management system took place in Naberezhnye Chelny, attended by representatives from 50 regions of the country. It was chaired by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, who oversees the environmental direction in the cabinet.
One of the main topics was the implementation of infrastructure projects. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the country is set to build a large number of new facilities in the coming years, so the pace of work needs to be accelerated. To this end, the Deputy Prime Minister ordered a complete inventory of each project. They intend to check the quality of project documents, the integrity of contractors, adherence to schedules, and how the allocated government support measures are being spent.
"Comprehensive control must be ensured not only over large construction projects. This also applies to other areas for which 'road maps' have been approved. In particular, over the course of 2025, entities acquired more than 62,000 containers, and another 63,000 are to be purchased this year," noted the Deputy Prime Minister. "The update of the special equipment fleet is also ongoing. A significant support here has been the mechanism of preferential leasing. Over the year, about 1,500 garbage trucks and other equipment have been acquired in this way."
Following the meeting, Dmitry Patrushev instructed the creation of special working groups in Tatarstan and other regions that will visit construction sites, monitor the progress of work, and help resolve emerging issues on-site. The Deputy Prime Minister called for special attention to be paid to garbage collection during the summer tourist season. According to him, it is important to avoid disruptions in the operation of municipal services and overflowing container sites.
