       A Kazan resident handed over ten million rubles to a courier of scammers in order to supposedly carry out the process of "declaration" after receiving a message about a hack of the State Services.

       The resident of Kazan became yet another victim of a classic, yet still effective scheme of telephone fraud, as a result of which he lost a colossal sum of 10 million rubles in cash, voluntarily handing it over to the courier. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, it all started when the man received a message with a suspicious link, containing alarming information that some criminals had allegedly already gained unauthorized access to his personal account on the "State Services" portal, which inevitably threatened him with the complete loss of all his accumulated savings. Soon after this, the scammers themselves contacted the victim, introducing themselves as financial security specialists and methodically convincing him of the need to urgently "secure" his funds. The victim was persuaded to withdraw all his money from his accounts and, under the pretext of undergoing some mandatory "verification and declaration," to hand over the entire amount to a specially sent courier, which the trusting man did. A criminal case has been initiated on this fact under the article on fraud in especially large amounts. A few days ago, it was reported that FSB officers detained a resident of Kazan based on his justification of attacks by Ukrainian drones. The man posted comments in the Telegram messenger in which he approved and justified the strikes of UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on civilian infrastructure. He now faces up to seven years in prison.
