The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, in his article dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Philippines, revealed the main topics of the upcoming anniversary summit of Russia-ASEAN in Kazan.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, in his article published in the publication of the Institute of Foreign Service of the Philippine Foreign Ministry, stated that the high-level meeting, which will take place from June 17 to 19, will summarize the achievements of 3.5 decades of fruitful Russian-ASEAN dialogue and determine the guidelines for further strategic cooperation in key areas such as trade and investment, energy, agriculture, digitalization, science, technology and innovation, education, tourism, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties. Lavrov emphasized that together with friends from Southeast Asia, it is planned to identify new, promising directions for joint efforts, and expressed joy at seeing the leaders of all ten ASEAN countries, including the President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos. For the first time, such a representative delegation will arrive in the capital of Tatarstan: the city will host 13 high-level foreign delegations, as well as about 28,500 people ensuring the smooth operation of the summit – journalists, translators, volunteers, technical staff, and law enforcement officers. The main events will take place at the Kazan Expo exhibition center, where the plenary program of the summit will be held on June 18, and a formal reception for high guests will be organized in the new building of the Galiaskar Kamal Theater. The Russia-ASEAN business forum will take place at the IT park named after Bashir Rameev, with the Center for Unique Mastery serving as an additional venue featuring a large exhibition of goods from leading enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan.
