On the results of the ecological rafting on the Sheshma River

      From June 12 to 14, 2026, an ecological rafting event took place on the Sheshma River with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.

      The event was attended by activists from the youth club of the Russian Geographical Society, the "Seven Rumbos" tourist club of Kazan Federal University, the Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of Patriotic Education and Prevention of Offenses of the Department of Youth Policy, Social Issues, and Development of the Physical Education and Sports System of Kazan Federal University, and the Administration of the Novosheshminsky Municipal District of the Republic of Tatarstan.

      Over three days, the participants of the rafting covered 37 km of the river, floating from the village of Novosheshminsk to the village of Sloboda Arkhangelskaya, and then from the village of Tubylgy Tau to the village of Lenino, cleaning the riverbanks at their overnight camping site by the Yelkhovka River. The participants noted the beauty of the route, the numerous colonies of water lilies, pairs of swans, and flocks of geese, spotted a beaver's hut, and enjoyed grazing horses. They also engaged in toponymy - clarifying the histories of the villages and settlements they encountered along the way, and learned about the Volga settlement with a history of over 700 years.

      Despite the challenges of navigating the winding areas of the river and storm warnings, the participants fully enjoyed the route on the Sheshma River and managed to collect 4 bags of trash - pieces of torn nets with bottles and weights, a car tire, bags, and plastic bottles.
