Group marking of bee colonies: what every beekeeper needs to know

      In Russian legislation, there is no individual chipping for each bee. The law requires group marking, meaning the entire bee family in the hive is subject to "marking." Here's how it works:

      Digital part: the "Khoriot" system. At the same time as installing the sign (marker) on the hive, the beekeeper is required to enter data about their apiary and bee family into the federal "Khoriot" system. This is a component of the "VetIS" system of the Rosselkhoznadzor, where all animals are accounted for.

      Another important document. According to Federal Law No. 490-FZ "On Beekeeping," a veterinary and sanitary passport must be issued for each apiary. To obtain it, one must contact the local veterinary service: specialists will conduct an inspection, check the health of the bees, and record the results.

      And what if you don't do it? Failure to mark is subject to administrative responsibility under Article 10.6 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation:

      For private beekeepers — a fine of up to 5,000 rubles.

      For entrepreneurs and organizations — up to 20,000 rubles or suspension of activities for up to 60 days.
