The list of citizens entitled to free legal assistance has been expanded in Tatarstan. Relevant changes have been made to the law "On Providing Free Legal Assistance to Citizens in the Republic of Tatarstan." The document was signed by the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. According to the changes, the right to free legal assistance has been granted to individuals who apply for recognition as forced migrants or refugees, as well as citizens already recognized as forced migrants, refugees, or those who have received temporary asylum in Russia. They will be able to receive legal assistance on issues related to the provision of social support measures, the registration of forced migrant or refugee status, obtaining temporary asylum, as well as citizenship in the Russian Federation. Furthermore, the law clarifies the list of cases in which such citizens will be provided with free legal assistance. This will cover issues related to obtaining social support measures, establishing the corresponding legal status, obtaining temporary asylum, acquiring Russian citizenship, establishing legally significant facts, and restoring lost documents necessary for resolving these issues. The changes also provide for the possibility of receiving free legal assistance in courts. Individuals applying for the status of forced migrants or refugees, as well as those who have already received this status or temporary asylum, will be able to count on support in establishing legally significant facts and restoring lost documents.
Such assistance will be provided if the documents are necessary for obtaining social support measures, registering as a forced migrant or refugee, obtaining temporary asylum, or acquiring Russian citizenship.
