       Tatarstan ranks third in Russia in the number of auto loans and has become a leader in their number per thousand residents

       In the Republic of Tatarstan, as of the end of May 2026, the volume of issued auto loans showed moderate growth, and the republic has strengthened its position among the leaders in this indicator in the country. According to RBC, citing data from the press service of the United Credit Bureau, in the last month of spring, residents of the region issued loans for the purchase of cars totaling about 8.1 billion rubles, which is 4 percent higher than the April figure, while the number of loans issued remained at the level of the previous month at about 5.5 thousand. In terms of the number of issued auto loans, Tatarstan ranked third among all Russian regions, surpassed only by Moscow and the Moscow region, and in terms of total lending volume, it became fourth, yielding to St. Petersburg as well. The average loan amount for purchasing a car in the republic in May was about 1.5 million rubles, which is 4 percent more than the April figure, and the average term for which Tatarstan residents take loans was the longest among the leading regions, reaching 72 months. Moreover, based on the results from January to May of this year, Tatarstan became the absolute leader in Russia in the number of new auto loans per thousand residents of the region, with a rate of six loans per thousand people. In total, over five months, residents of the republic took 23.8 thousand auto loans for a total amount of 34.2 billion rubles. It was previously reported that banks in Tatarstan have become less likely to refuse clients in issuing loans.
