The final selection for the regional "Guardsman" training camp has started in Kazan.
The top 50 young army members out of 33,000 are competing for the right to represent Tatarstan in the Volga Federal District. Winners will be determined based on the results of 10 tests.
In Kazan today, June 25, the final stage of the regional selection for participation in the district military-patriotic gatherings "Guard" has started. Serious challenges lie ahead for the participants. Only 20 out of 50 candidates will be selected to go to Penza for the district stage in August. The selection was tough. First, there was the municipal stage: from 33,000 young army members across the republic, the top 50 were chosen. Achievements in all-Russian and regional competitions in pre-conscription training, results from five-day training camps, sports competitions, the regional gathering "Post No. 1 of the Republic of Tatarstan," and the fulfillment of the "Young Army Standard" were taken into account.
Participants are students in grades 9-10. Today, they will showcase their skills in ten competencies: assembly and disassembly of a rifle, grenade throwing, drill training, shooting, pull-ups, and team games — football and volleyball.
The regional stage is taking place at the Kazan State Agrarian University. The "Guard" project has existed since 2013 under the patronage of the Presidential Envoy of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District and with the support of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. During this time, more than five thousand people have participated in the gatherings, many of whom have linked their lives to military service.
The district gatherings will take place in August at the Penza Artillery Engineering Institute. There, 360 young men from 14 regions of the Volga Federal District, as well as from the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia region, and Belarus will gather. Participants can expect drill, shooting, parachute training, classes on tactics and UAV management, as well as a competition in kettlebell sport.
Based on the results of the gatherings, it will be known which of the 50 young army members will go to defend the honor of Tatarstan at the district level.
