Tatarstan is once again hit by heavy rains: meteorologists warned of a drop in temperature and new rains.
A cyclone is approaching Tatarstan from the rear. Today, Kazan and some areas of the republic were once again hit by heavy rain, and meteorologists assure that this June risks making it onto the list of the coldest and rainiest. There is currently no sign of a break in the overcast sky. Moreover, today witnesses captured two tornadoes in one area. Gulusa Khasanova reports on everything in detail.
The first month of summer continues to surprise Tatarstan residents with its weather. The republic has been hit by powerful downpours again. According to meteorologists, such unstable weather will persist until the end of June. Additionally, due to the active southern cyclone, a drop in temperature is expected. Gulusa Khasanova has more details.
Thunder rumbles and lightning strikes. Today, after a brief warm and sunny spell, another powerful downpour hit the republic. Some streets in Kazan were flooded, with cars slicing through the puddles like boats. And near Kazan, in the Vysokogorsky and Apastovsky districts, tornadoes occurred. Tatarstan residents managed to capture this rare phenomenon for our region. The reason for such bad weather is the active southern cyclone.
The same cyclone caused heavy precipitation on June 23, when the city received a ten-day norm of rainfall. The central streets of Tatarstan's capital were flooded, with water levels reaching waist-deep in some places. Some people crossed the roadway literally by swimming, while city benches and flower beds floated away with the current.
Dacha owners note that due to such heavy rains, berries are suffering significantly, especially the strawberry harvest. Due to the rainy weather and wet soil, they quickly rot. If this continues, more than half of the harvest may be lost. "It's the rainy season now, the berries are rotting. You see rotten ones in the beds, of course. If the weather is good, the harvest is usually good"; "Victoria berries are rotting very badly. Apparently, the rains are too much," gardeners note.
Mushroom pickers are happy about the rains—the abundance of moisture has created ideal conditions for mushroom growth. Not only white mushrooms but also aspen mushrooms, chanterelles, and oyster mushrooms have already appeared.
According to the forecast, the end of June will be autumnally damp and cool, with weather more reminiscent of September. Daytime temperatures will not rise above 18 degrees. At night, it will only be 8–13 degrees warm. Meanwhile, wind gusts will reach 15–17 m/s.
"The upcoming weekend and the beginning of the week will remain unstable. Rain is expected in some areas on Saturday. In certain districts, the rain will be heavy. Precipitation is mainly expected in the eastern regions. In Kazan, for example, significant precipitation is not forecasted in the coming days, but thunderstorms are possible," emphasized Irina Trushina, head of the forecasting department of the Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Office of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Warm clothes and umbrellas will be relevant for a few more days. However, from the second decade of July, the heat should return. According to the Hydrometeorological Center, the second summer month in Tatarstan will be warmer than the climatic norm.
