      Starting from July 1, the Social Fund of Russia will transition to a new procedure for calculating benefits. Payments for sick leave, maternity and childbirth, and childcare will be calculated based on the data from the individual personal account, without requests to the employer.

      From July 1 of this year, a new procedure for calculating social payments will come into effect in Russia, which will significantly simplify life for both citizens and employers. The Social Fund of Russia will begin to calculate certain types of benefits directly, using data that is already stored in the individual personal account of the insured person. This was reported by Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Department of Public Finance of the Financial Faculty of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

      The innovation will affect several categories of payments that most working citizens encounter. These include benefits for temporary disability, that is, payments for sick leave, maternity and childbirth benefits, monthly childcare allowances until the child reaches one and a half years of age, as well as a one-time payment upon the birth of a child. Now, for their calculation, the fund will not need to request documents and information from the employer after the occurrence of an insured event, as was done before. The process will become more automated and faster.

      The economist explained that the calculation will be based on data that is already available in the Social Fund of Russia system. There will be no need to provide information that has already been accounted for in the system again. The fund will only need to contact the employer if some data in the individual personal account is missing. This will significantly reduce the time required to process payments and decrease the burden on the accounting services of enterprises, while citizens themselves will be able to receive the funds due to them faster and without unnecessary bureaucracy. This approach makes the social insurance system more convenient and modern, focused on the real needs of people.
