A State Duma deputy proposed to assign a pension supplement starting at 70 years old.

      The head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy, and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, proposed to lower the age for assigning an increased fixed payment to the old-age insurance pension. He announced this to TASS. Currently, the right to a doubled fixed payment arises for pensioners after reaching the age of 80. According to the deputy, this threshold should be reconsidered. "I believe that the threshold of 80 years, when the increased fixed payment is assigned and an additional right to a social worker arises, should be reviewed and lowered to 70, or at least to 75 years," said Nilov. The parliamentarian noted that the corresponding mechanism is provided for in the draft law, which has already been sent to the government for review. In addition, the deputy advocated for a phased increase in the amount of the supplement depending on the age of the pensioner. "We have centenarians who live to be 110 years old; they are few, these are isolated cases in the country, so, of course, such people need to be supported materially as well," he stated. "Age requires additional attention and additional support measures, including those that go beyond existing measures," emphasized the deputy. Currently, the old-age insurance pension consists of an insurance part and a fixed payment. The amount of the insurance part depends on the number of pension points, while the fixed payment is set by the state. In 2026, it amounts to 9,584 rubles. After reaching the age of 80, the amount of the fixed payment doubles to 19,169 rubles. The recalculation is done automatically and takes effect from the next month after the pensioner's birthday.
