      The biological treatment facilities of the Nizhnekamsk enterprise SIBUR received an ecological conclusion from Rosprirodnadzor. The biological treatment facilities are already operating on real industrial effluent. The quality of the treated effluent meets the design indicators for all key parameters. The analysis of the operation of the ultraviolet disinfection unit (UV) that replaced chlorination has been completed at the biological treatment facilities. The macrofiltration technology with continuous regeneration disc fabric filters allows for a 30% reduction in the content of suspended solids and microorganisms.

      The effluent quality control system will transmit data on water quality to Rosprirodnadzor online every 4 hours, ensuring continuous monitoring. The third stage of the reconstruction of the biological treatment facilities started in March 2025 and involved the modernization of the effluent post-treatment and disinfection unit. During the works, new buildings and structures were constructed, and 14 filters for the post-treatment of effluent from suspended solids were installed.

      The biological treatment facilities of the enterprise treat 20% of urban and 80% of industrial wastewater from the Nizhnekamsk industrial zone. Earlier, in 2015-2019, two stages of large-scale reconstruction were carried out at the treatment facilities, resulting in an increase in the efficiency of air purification to 96% and solving the odor problem.

      — Individual tests of the equipment at the biological treatment facilities have been conducted, and comprehensive testing of the system is nearing completion. The biological treatment facilities are operating on real effluent. The automatic monitoring equipment has been installed, and its testing is currently underway in a working environment, after which the entire system will be accredited as an official monitoring tool by Rosprirodnadzor, — said Mikhail Romanov, head of the industrial wastewater treatment production at the biological treatment facilities.

      — We continue comprehensive testing of the station and filters and are ready for the full launch of the biological treatment facilities. We have involved independent laboratories in the analysis of the effluent, including the laboratory under Rospotrebnadzor. The studies showed that the water quality is high; we exceed the design values for suspended solids, petroleum products, and the content of organic substances in the water, — noted Ramil Gazizov, representative of "ASP-Aqua".

      — Receiving the EcoZOS from Rosprirodnadzor is a legal confirmation that we have built a modern, environmentally safe facility in full compliance with the project. No violations occurred during construction, and all environmental protection measures have been implemented. The quality of water after post-treatment in the new filtration system meets the requirements of the project documentation.
