In Tatarstan, it was proposed to extend social support measures for large families raising children with disabilities until the older child with a disability reaches 23 years of age. The corresponding bill was submitted by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan to the State Council of the republic. The document is currently under preliminary review in the parliament.
As noted in the explanatory note, citizens raising three or more children, including adopted ones, are provided with social support measures until the older child reaches 18 years of age or 23 years if they are studying full-time in an educational institution.
It is emphasized that due to health conditions, children with disabilities often cannot continue full-time education after the age of 18 and, regardless of age, remain under the care of their parents.
As part of the existing measures, children from large families aged 3 to 6 years are provided with free medication. Such families also receive a subsidy of 30% of their housing and utility expenses, and those living in houses without central heating are compensated for part of their fuel costs.
In addition, one of the parents is assigned a monthly subsidy for the transportation of students until they complete their education, but no longer than until they reach 23 years of age. The amount of the payment is 400 rubles.
