The enterprise in Tatarstan has mastered the production of automotive components for the new generation KAMAZ trucks.
The "Kamsky Mechanical Plant" has expanded its range of automotive components in Naberezhnye Chelny and implemented a complete gear processing cycle. New products are used in gearboxes, transfer cases, and drive axle reducers for KAMAZ trucks of the K5 generation.
The total investment exceeded 390 million rubles, of which 310 million rubles were provided as a preferential loan by the Industrial Development Fund under the special program "Automotive Components."
With the loan funds, the company acquired CNC metalworking equipment: machines for manufacturing and processing gears, as well as for tool sharpening.
The introduction of new equipment allowed KMZ to transition to a full technological production cycle and improve the operational characteristics of its products. Previously, the plant only performed turning, milling, and drilling operations, while the gear cutting operation was outsourced to third-party companies. Now, the technological process has been supplemented with gear grinding, which has improved the accuracy and wear resistance of the parts.
The plant has established the production of new cylindrical gears for the main drive, which provide smoother operation and reduced noise levels. Once fully operational, the total production volume will reach 158,500 parts annually. Additionally, the company has increased the production of shafts, couplings, and drive flanges, which will fully supply the main KAMAZ assembly line with components for vehicle assembly.
The new cylindrical gears, shafts, couplings, and flanges are intended for the entire model range of KAMAZ trucks, including updated K5 generation tractors, all-wheel drive vehicles with enhanced off-road capability, dump trucks, and equipment for operation in harsh conditions.
Only domestic raw materials are used in the production of these products: blanks in the form of forgings are supplied by "KAMAZ." The localization level is 100%.
Previously, thanks to the preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund, the enterprise organized a complete cycle of producing main drive gears for KAMAZ trucks of the K3 generation. The production volume is 80,000 parts per year, which allows for half of the automotive plant's needs for these components to be met. Investments exceeded 260 million rubles, of which 180 million rubles were provided by the federal Industrial Development Fund and 20 million rubles by the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan. Thus, the plant is consistently increasing the production of complex parts for the automotive industry, expanding its product range.
