      In the first half of 2026, the labor market in Kazan continued to show signs of cooling, incorporating processes of optimization and a slowdown in wage growth. The differentiation between demand and supply has increased: in some sectors, there is a severe shortage, while in others, there is high competition. This was stated by the director of the employment center of Tatarstan, Timur Mullin, at a business Monday meeting. "The labor market in Kazan is characterized by nominally low unemployment. Most of those employed in the economy work in large enterprises in the city, where there is a shortage of personnel. At the same time, official unemployment in Kazan has risen from 1,104 people to 1,640 people, and the registered unemployment rate is 0.25%," he noted. Mullin added that the activity of job seekers in the labor market has exceeded the needs of employers – the number of resumes compared to last year has increased by 31%, leading to increased competition among applicants. A year ago, there were 6.5 applicants for one vacancy, and today this figure stands at 10.3 resumes for one job. This indicates a shift from a shortage of applicants to increased competition for jobs. "The labor market index has grown the most in IT technologies, arts and culture, beauty and sports industries, transportation and logistics, construction, and education science," said the director of the employment center.
