A team from Tatarstan was invited to a carnival in West Africa.

      The Russian delegation, which includes representatives of the Strategic Vision Group "Russia – Islamic World" and the Center for Public Diplomacy, is on a working trip to Guinea-Bissau. Among the participants of the trip are the Deputy Chairman of the Group, Assistant to the President of Tatarstan Marat Gatin, as well as Professor Leonid Isaev from the National Research University Higher School of Economics, the scientific supervisor of the international public organization "Center for Public Diplomacy." This was reported by the press service of the Group.

      As a result of the meeting with the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Sports of Guinea-Bissau, Joelma Kubala, the Tatarstan side received an invitation to participate in the national carnival, which will take place in the country in February 2027. Currently, the possibility of participation by a national creative team from Tatarstan in the celebration is being discussed. If the initiative is realized, Tatarstan and Russia will be represented for the first time at one of the largest cultural events in West Africa.

      The Russian side also invited representatives of Guinea-Bissau to participate in its international projects. The first guests are expected at the Global Youth Summit and the Congress of Young Scientists from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, which will be held in Kazan.

      According to Marat Gatin, the first contacts between the parties were established in May during the International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum." "The current visit has translated these agreements into practical terms. We discussed areas of joint work, including through the Group," he noted.

      The program of the visit includes a visit to the Amílcar Cabral State University, as well as a meeting at the Russian embassy with the Chargé d'Affaires of Russia in Guinea-Bissau Artem Komissarov.

      In the coming days, the delegation plans to hold negotiations with the Minister of Internal Affairs, representatives of the alumni association of Russian and Soviet universities, the ministries of health and agriculture, and also meet with the Prime Minister of the republic.

      The Russian delegation also included representatives from universities in Novosibirsk, including the vice-rectors of Novosibirsk State Technical University and Siberian State University of Engineering and Biotechnology.
