According to experts' estimates, the number of bankruptcies among farmers and businesses in Tatarstan has increased by one third, with the republic ranking first in the Volga Federal District for bankrupt legal entities.
In the Republic of Tatarstan, significant growth in the number of bankruptcies has been recorded for both legal entities and individuals in the first half of 2026, with the most alarming dynamics observed in the agricultural sector. As calculated by RBC Tatarstan based on "Fedresurs" data, from January to June, the number of bankruptcies of legal entities and agricultural cooperatives in the region soared by 35 percent compared to the same period in 2025, reaching a total of one hundred and four procedures. By the end of the second quarter, the republic took first place in the Volga Federal District and fifth place overall in Russia for the number of reports on the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings. Meanwhile, the number of out-of-court bankruptcies among individuals increased by 11.6 percent. As for individuals and sole proprietors, there were seven thousand three hundred procedures registered in the half-year, which is 9.8 percent higher than last year's level, although there was a slight decrease in the second quarter compared to the peak values at the end of 2025. According to experts' estimates, Tatarstan ranks eleventh in the country for individual bankruptcies, trailing behind Bashkortostan and Samara region within the district. A few days ago, it was reported that in the Republic of Tatarstan, there has been an explosive growth in demand for specialists skilled in artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies in the first half of 2026.
