       The Republic of Tatarstan has reduced its state debt by almost 24 billion rubles in a month due to the write-off of two-thirds of the debt on budget loans.

       As of July 1, 2026, the state debt of the Republic of Tatarstan amounted to approximately 74 billion rubles, demonstrating a sharp and significant decrease compared to the previous month. According to RBC, citing data from the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tatarstan, the debt amount decreased by 23.5 billion rubles in just one month. Such a significant negative trend in the department was explained by the fact that the main part of the reduction was ensured by the mechanism of writing off two-thirds of the debt on restructured budget loans, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation for the subjects of the country. As previously noted, as of July 1, in the structure of the region's state debt, obligations on federal budget loans amounted to 66.4 billion rubles, while another 7.6 billion rubles were related to obligations on state guarantees provided. Department representatives had previously stated that over the course of two years, the republic plans to write off more than 44 billion rubles of debts that were taken out for the preparation for the Universiade-2013. The message indicated that the freed-up funds are proposed to be directed towards the repair of communal and road infrastructure, replacement of elevators, and updating public transport. It was previously reported that a terrible accident occurred in Zelenodolsk on the night of July 24: a car with seven teenagers crashed into a tree and caught fire, with only one fourteen-year-old boy surviving.
