       In Kazan, it has been proposed to significantly reduce the storage period for abandoned vehicles. Currently, owners of such vehicles are given six months for storage.

       The authorities of the capital of Tatarstan intend to radically speed up the process of clearing the city’s yards and streets of rusty automotive junk that has occupied scarce parking spaces for years. As reported on Friday, July 31, the draft resolution of the Executive Committee of the city of Kazan is currently undergoing mandatory anti-corruption expertise. According to the proposed amendments, the period allotted to owners of abandoned, disassembled, and seemingly ownerless vehicles to retrieve their property from the municipal parking lot is planned to be cut exactly in half – from the current six months to three. At the same time, the document notes that if the owner does not come forward and assert their rights to the vehicle during this expedited period, it may be declared ownerless and disposed of in accordance with the law. Changes are proposed to be made to the existing city rules for identifying, accounting, moving, storing, and subsequently disposing of vehicles that appear to be abandoned. The day before, it was reported that the Republic of Tatarstan retained its place in the top ten Russian regions in terms of the turnover of public catering establishments for the period of January-May 2026, despite a nationwide decline in traffic in this sector. Over the past five months of the current year, the total revenue of restaurants, cafes, bars, and canteens in the region amounted to 45.7 billion rubles.
