The Zainsk athlete spoke about how karate instilled a champion's spirit in her.
Karate has instilled confidence in Umkursum Ikhindanova and opened the path to victories at high-level tournaments.
When Umkursum Ikhindanova was nine years old, a new world appeared in her life – the world of karate, strict training, and snow-white kimonos. The initiative came from the closest person – her mother, for whom this was not just a section, but a childhood dream she wanted to pass on to her daughter. And her father rightly noted that this sport teaches the most important things – discipline, the ability to stand up for oneself, and that very resilience of spirit that will be so useful in life.
For several years now, the tatami has been a place of strength for Umkursum. The athlete notes that before stepping onto the mat, she does not feel tremors or fear. There is only one desire – to enter the fight as soon as possible, to test herself and her opponent.
– Representing my district, my republic, and even my country – for me, this is not just words, but the greatest pride. It gives me strength, it is my main motivation, – Umkursum admits with a sincere smile.
And this motivation has already led to significant results. In the young athlete's collection are medals from prestigious competitions, during which Umkursum has repeatedly proven that her resilience knows no bounds: the international tournament in Minsk, competitions in Novosibirsk, the all-Russian tournament in Samara, and the Russian championship in Moscow. Each medal is not just a piece of metal, but thousands of strikes and the strength of character invested in every movement.
Training is hard work, but Umkursum has her own secret to success. She believes that the foundation of a champion is three pillars: discipline, responsibility, and confidence. Moreover, the latter quality comes precisely from victory over oneself.
– It's hard for me to judge my character, but acquaintances unanimously say that I have changed a lot, – the athlete laughs. And these changes are noticeable to the naked eye: her eyes shine with confidence, and her movements have gained precision and strength.
But a champion's character is forged not only in the gym. Umkursum is a workaholic even at home. After her main training sessions, she always practices her striking technique, honing each movement to perfection. However, despite such serious commitments, she remains an ordinary girl who loves life.
She spends her free time, which is not so frequent, with her family – her most important fans – as well as with friends. She is interested in the English language and happily explores culinary arts, preparing various dishes.
Umkursum Ikhindanova is an example of how the support of loved ones and belief in oneself can turn a dream into reality. She proves that karate is not just a fight against an opponent, but a path that teaches us to be stronger in any life situation.
