Trump: Russia released American Robert Gilman after negotiations with the US

      Former American Marine Robert Gilman, who was convicted in Russia, has been released from prison and is heading to the USA. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the words of US President Donald Trump. "After my negotiations with (the President of the Russian Federation, note T-i) Vladimir Putin, Russia agreed to release him solely for humanitarian reasons. We appreciate this decision and the fact that Russia did not demand anything in return – there was no exchange," the American president said on social media. In January 2022, during his detention for disorderly conduct on a train, Gilman kicked one of the police officers. He was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, but the term was later reduced to 3.5 years. However, during his sentence, the convict used force against FSIN staff and an investigator several more times. A criminal case was initiated against him, and due to the cumulative penalties, the American was sentenced to 10 years and 1 month in prison.
