The Prosecutor's Office of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, has approved the indictment in the criminal case against seven local residents. They are accused of nine episodes under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on a particularly large scale). According to the investigation, from June to September 2024, the accomplices organized a call center and called residents of various regions of Russia. Under various pretexts – preserving savings, declaring funds, avoiding criminal prosecution, and others – they convinced people, mainly elderly individuals, to transfer money to them. As a result of their criminal actions, nine people from the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Mordovia, and the Udmurt Republic were harmed.
