Over the past six years, more than 76 billion rubles have been allocated to national projects in Kazan.
In 2026, the capital of Tatarstan is participating in the implementation of eight updated national projects. The total funding amounts to 5 billion rubles, of which 2.9 billion rubles are federal budget funds, and another 2.1 billion rubles are from the Tatarstan budget. The largest projects include "Infrastructure for Life," "Environmental Well-Being," "Youth and Children," and "Family." During this time, the city has built 26 kindergartens and 15 schools, repaired over 130 km of roads, and improved 23 parks and squares. This was reported at the business Monday meeting by the deputy head of the city executive committee, Ildar Shakirov. Over six years, Kazan has put into operation 26 kindergartens with nearly 11,000 places, 15 schools with 19,400 places, and five additional school buildings with more than 5,000 places. The city also created educational centers and children's technoparks "Kvantorium." Funds were also directed towards healthcare development. Kazan opened 12 geriatric centers, built a children's oncology center with 100 beds, and a multidisciplinary clinic in the "Salavat Kupere" residential complex. A new building for the branch of the children's city clinic No. 6 appeared in Derbysheki. Additionally, five clinics were overhauled. National projects covered cultural and sports facilities. According to Shakirov, the city's sports schools received new equipment, inventory, and gear, while 85% of cultural facilities were brought into proper condition. In the road sector, the construction of the Voznesensky tract and a bypass of the Gorky highway, stretching 4.7 km, was completed during this period. Furthermore, 110 of the most worn-out road sections, totaling over 130 km, were repaired. In addition, Kazan completed the reconstruction of biological treatment facilities and the reclamation of the Samosyrovsky landfill, and improved 23 parks and squares. The public transport fleet was supplemented with 127 NEFAZ buses running on gas motor fuel. Kazan's mayor, Ilsur Metshin, called 76 billion rubles "a powerful boost" for the city's development.
"The figures are more than impressive: 76 billion rubles over six years is a powerful boost for the development of Kazan from the federal budget, with co-financing from the republican and local budgets," Metshin said. According to him, thanks to national projects, Kazan received new social and transport infrastructure. In particular, the construction of the Voznesensky tract and the bypass of the Gorky highway gave an impetus to the development of adjacent areas, where new residential neighborhoods, schools, parks, and squares are emerging. Metshin thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin, the federal government, and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for supporting projects aimed at developing urban infrastructure.
