      According to the results of a survey* by VTB, 80% of residents of the Volga Federal District keep their funds in bank deposits or savings accounts. At the same time, 70% of respondents have not withdrawn funds from deposits in the last six months, confirming the stability of the savings model. This data was presented by the bank at the WEF 2026. In 2026, most residents of the district continue to systematically build their savings. 27% of survey participants save 5-10% of their monthly income, 29% of respondents save 10-20%, and 12% save 20-30% of their earnings. Half of those surveyed maintained their savings share at last year's level, while 9% started saving more than in 2025. Among those who withdrew money, the most significant share was for housing purposes: 22% of respondents in the Volga Federal District withdrew funds specifically for purchasing housing or making a mortgage payment. One in three plans to allocate their funds for this in the next six months to a year. The structure of savings is also gradually transforming. 30% of respondents increased the share of funds in savings accounts, while one-fifth increased their share in term deposits. 11% of respondents increased their share of investment instruments, and another 9% invested in gold, indicating a gradual shift in interest towards more diversified strategies. One-third of respondents have not changed their savings model since the beginning of 2025.
