In Tatarstan, 338 schools use fire alarms that have expired.
More than a fifth of educational institutions in Tatarstan operate with outdated fire protection systems, leading to false alarms and fire department call-outs. This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Tatarstan, Maxim Trushin, at a meeting of the Commission on Emergency Situations and Fire Safety of the Republic of Tatarstan. "In 338 schools, which accounts for more than 21% of the total number of facilities, the technical means of fire alarm systems are being operated beyond their service life—over ten years. This often leads to system failures and false alarms, which, in turn, results in false call-outs of fire protection units. In 2025, firefighters responded to 25 false alarms in schools, and in the current period of 2026—already 17," Maxim Trushin said. The worst situation in this regard is noted in the Aznakayevo, Aksubaevo, Bugulma, Zelenodolsk, Kukmor, and Cheremshan districts of Tatarstan and in Kazan. Thus, in the capital of the republic, outdated alarms are in operation in 43 schools, in the Kukmor district—in 28, and in the Aznakayevo and Bugulma districts—27 such schools each.
