In Nurlat, the memory of the statesman of Russia Almaz Akhmetshin was honored.

      A commemorative event titled "By acting today, we create our tomorrow" took place at the City Palace of Culture, dedicated to the outstanding statesman of the Russian Federation, the honored builder of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the former head of the Nurlat district, Almaz Salimovich Akhmetshin.

      Words from colleagues and associates

      To honor the memory of the leader who made an invaluable contribution to the development of the republic and the district, the head of the Nurlat district, Damir Ishkineev, the deputy minister of construction, architecture, and housing and communal services of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilshat Gimaev, a deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Shamil Yagudin, as well as relatives, close friends, fellow villagers, enterprise leaders, and residents of Nurlat gathered. Each speaker shared warm memories of Almaz Salimovich, who led the district from 2018 to 2023. Damir Ishkineev emphasized the scale of his personality. "Almaz Salimovich was a far-sighted, wise, and demanding leader with strategic thinking. He always pursued his goals and achieved impressive results. During his leadership, the city transformed: facilities were built and reconstructed, new public spaces emerged, which are now beloved by the residents of Nurlat. I would especially highlight the large-scale project of the Chulpanovskoye field water supply – it was a complex task, but he managed to secure significant funding for its implementation. He did this for his fellow countrymen, being a true patriot. The bright memory of him will forever remain in our hearts," noted Damir Azatovich. Ilshat Gimaev spoke on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan. "Almaz Salimovich worked as a deputy minister in our department for a whole decade. He was an honest, decent, and conscientious person. I was fortunate to work under his leadership for more than six years. He was a unique mentor who finely sensed the needs of his employees, able to demand and support. At the same time, he remained a person of great soul – always ready to help those in need. He will forever remain in our history, and his name will be inscribed in the ministry's memorial book," he said.

      Creative part and words of gratitude

      The event took place in a warm, lyrical atmosphere. The concert program was complemented by heartfelt songs and dance numbers. From the stage, performances were heard from those who worked alongside Almaz Salimovich, as well as his relatives. They expressed sincere gratitude to all present and the organizers for preserving and keeping alive the memory of this outstanding fellow countryman.

      Legacy, frozen in stone and deeds

      The main monuments to Almaz Akhmetshin are the projects implemented with his direct participation and initiative, which continue to serve the people. Among the large-scale projects are: the Children's Creativity Center "Kilechek," the Football Arena "Tup," the reconstruction of Karl Marx Street, the improvement of the city lake on Shashina Street, the Marriage Palace, the famous city clock, the new water supply system, the "Ak Bars" sports center, and the "Kondurcha" landscape park. This list can go on indefinitely: in every facility created at his initiative, a piece of his soul and tireless care for his homeland lives on.

      Biography and professional path

      Almaz Salimovich Akhmetshin was born on March 11, 1967, in the village of Bikulovo in the Oktyabrsky (now Nurlat) district of the TASSR. His work biography is closely linked to the construction industry and housing and communal services: he began his career at OJSC "Tatagropromstroy." He worked at the State Unitary Enterprise "Republican Production Association of Housing and Communal Services of Rural Areas." He held positions in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. For a long time, he worked in the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan, rising to the position of deputy minister. From 2018 to 2023, he successfully led the Nurlat district, implementing key infrastructure and social projects. In 2023, thanks to his vast experience in managing the construction industry, he was appointed as the first deputy chairman of the Government of the Smolensk region. Almaz Salimovich was awarded honorary titles "Honored Builder of the Republic of Tatarstan" and "Honored Worker of Housing and Communal Services of Russia." He passed away suddenly on May 13, 2025.
