Today, the Investigative Committee for Tatarstan announced the completion of the investigation into the case of a 51-year-old lawyer from Naberezhnye Chelny. He is accused of obstructing justice and conducting a preliminary investigation in connection with the destruction of a procedural document (part 2 of article 294 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as clarified by "Real Time" in the press service of the law enforcement agency. According to the investigation, in October 2025, the accused was providing defense for a participant in a criminal case regarding the illegal circulation of payment means under a contract and was present during his interrogation. After the interrogation, both the participant in the case and his defender signed this document, but before handing it over to the investigator, the lawyer tore up the protocol. According to "Real Time," the lawyer in question is Kamaliev, and the incident described in the accusation took place during an interrogation conducted by an operative at the request of the investigator as part of the investigation into a large-scale case of "cash-out" schemes.
The sanctions for the article of the Criminal Code under which the Chelny defender is accused provide for punishment in the form of a fine, compulsory labor for up to 480 hours, or arrest for up to 6 months. The Investigative Committee does not specify which court the case against the defender has been sent to.
