Sociologists are recording an increase in support for "United Russia" ahead of the State Duma elections.

      According to recent surveys by VCIOM and FOM, the United Russia party is strengthening its positions among those voters who are certain to come to the elections, reports IA Tatar-inform. Experts from EISI and FoRGO noted that according to VCIOM data, 36% are ready to vote for United Russia (which is higher than before), while other parties, such as the Communist Party, New People, and LDPR, have figures holding steady at around 10-11%. FOM surveys give United Russia 33% with a slight increase over the week, while LDPR stands at 9%, the Communist Party at 8%, New People at 8%, and Fair Russia at 4%. If we consider only those who actively participate in elections, LDPR has 8%, the Communist Party has 11%, New People has 8%, and Fair Russia has 4%. Based on this, experts suggest that United Russia could receive 48-49% of the votes and even surpass the 50% mark. The second place will likely be taken by the Communist Party with about 15%, while LDPR and New People will compete for third place. This stable support for the party is linked to its strengthening among active voters, who usually determine the outcome of the voting, while attention is focused on how seats in the Duma will be distributed and who will compete for second and third places. Political scientists from Tatarstan discussed this situation at the "Expert Club" and agreed that United Russia confidently leads due to administrative support, a vast network in the regions, and its status as the "party of power," which promises stability and implements social projects, and in the context of external tension, this only strengthens people's desire to vote for someone who appears to be a winner. Political science candidate Zoya Silaeva explained that United Russia has an advantage in candidate recognition and in dominating the media. She also stated that the second place will likely go to the Communist Party, as it has a stable core of supporters, especially among the elderly and in industrial and rural regions, but surprises are possible — if LDPR or New People propose more interesting ideas for protest-minded and young voters or nominate strong local leaders, they could take some votes away from the communists. Meanwhile, in Tatarstan itself, support for United Russia is traditionally high due to the work of the authorities, bets on stability, and large construction projects, while the Communist Party retains its supporters in certain industrial cities, but its results here are lower than in many other regions, while LDPR and New People have a chance to grow in large cities, including Kazan, where there are many undecided voters and a noticeable demand for alternatives in the social sphere. The head of the Department of International Relations at KFU and a member of the Public Chamber of RT, Andrey Bolshakov, noted that the leadership of "ER" in this campaign is beyond doubt, social surveys show an increase in its support as elections approach, and the party could receive 300 or more mandates. Meanwhile, the outsider so far appears to be Fair Russia, which cannot rise above 4.0-5.5%, and if this continues, it risks not entering the State Duma at all, as the party lacks a clear face. The most unpredictable battle is for second place, which is by no means guaranteed to the Communist Party, as New People and LDPR seriously oppose it. The outcome may be influenced by bright campaigning, unexpected events on election day, or the shift of some voters from Fair Russia. New People may gain votes from those who previously supported Yabloko (which was removed from the elections), but such people are few. In Tatarstan, the main competitor of "ER" used to be the local branch of the Communist Party, but now LDPR and New People may also slightly increase their results.

      The elections for deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the 9th convocation will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026, and the parliament will be formed according to a mixed system: 225 seats will be distributed by party lists, and another 225 by single-member districts. Ten officially registered parties are participating in the elections: United Russia, the Communist Party, LDPR, Fair Russia – For Truth, New People, the Pensioners' Party, Communists of Russia, the Greens, the Party of Direct Democracy, and Rodina.
