Foreign nationals in Russia have less than two weeks left to legalize their status.
Until September 10, 2025 inclusive, foreign nationals and stateless persons who are on the territory of Russia in violation of migration legislation must regularize their legal status. This deadline is established by Presidential Decree of the Russian Federation No. 1126, which provides for a simplified legalization procedure. Critically important are cases of absence of: valid documents for obtaining a migration status; registration at the place of residence; timely completed medical examinations; fingerprint registration data. Citizens who violated the 90-day stay rule in 2025 must leave the territory of Russia no later than September 11. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in administrative expulsion with subsequent restrictions: a ban on employment, acquisition of real estate and banking operations. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reminds that information on all foreigners with an irregular migration status is stored centrally in a unified register of controlled persons.
