Zulfat Mardamshin is reviving the culture of equestrian tourism in Zainsky District.
A hereditary horse breeder has created a unique space for relaxation where horses have become a bridge between humans and nature.
In the vicinity of the village of Srednie Pinyachi there is a place where time slows down. Here silence and tranquility reign: a picturesque river, a cozy little bridge, wooden swings and well-trained gentle horses. This is not just a stable, but an entire eco-complex created through the efforts of Zulfat Mardamshin, who grew up among his father's famous racehorses — multiple winners of Sabantuy races and prestigious competitions.
Zulfat is an international tourism manager by education, but his heart has always been drawn to horses. Having practiced equestrian sport since childhood, he could have built a career in the city, but chose to develop his father's enterprise — the once-famous Tatarstan horse breeder Haydar abiya (may his place be in paradise).
“Horses are very friendly and kind animals that can find a common language with any person,” Zulfat is convinced. “Anyone who has once learned to handle a horse will remember that experience forever. For me they have become the meaning of life.”
The idea to create the equestrian club Verhomtat in the village of Srednie Pinyachi came naturally. Noticing that city dwellers are increasingly drawn “to grandma’s village” — to breathe fresh air and rest from the hustle and bustle — father and son Mardamshins decided to develop rural tourism.
It all began with one horse and rides for friends. Today the club already has 15 horses, and the project has grown into a serious business with ten employees. They can simultaneously organize a horseback ride for more than a dozen people. Guests are offered horse rides, photo sessions in a colorful atmosphere and even lessons in the basics of horseback riding under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
But behind this idyll lies colossal work and investment. The upkeep of a single horse, taking into account feed, veterinary care and grounds maintenance, is not cheap.
“A horse is like an expensive car,” the entrepreneur explains. “They require attention. You can’t leave them for a couple of days — energy accumulates in them that is then hard to channel into peaceful directions. A special approach and training are needed.”
The Chelny native develops ecotourism together with his wife Anastasia. Together they created riding routes adapted to different weather conditions: scenic trails for sunny days and safe paths for bad weather.
“Horseback riding is a wonderful way to relieve tension and gain unforgettable emotions,” the couple share, constantly working to expand and improve their tourist offering.
Zulfat Mardamshin intends to scale the development of equestrian tourism. He is confident in the ideal conditions of the Zainsky District for this business: “We have all the necessary infrastructure: excellent stables, estates and, importantly, our own lands. This allows us to grow grain and harvest hay ourselves, providing the horses with quality feed,” the entrepreneur shares his plans.
The equestrian club operates year-round, even in rainy autumn and slushy spring when there are the fewest visitors. Plans include further developing the direction, offering city residents ever new formats of quality outdoor recreation.
Zulfat Mardamshin, founder of the equestrian club:
“My goal is to give anyone who has ever dreamed of it the opportunity to ride a horse. Many are afraid: what if the horse bolts, throws you off or you simply fall? But after more than 20 years of working with these noble animals I have thought through every detail so that even someone who has never sat in a saddle can, on the same day, ride along the most beautiful route for a whole hour. Believe me, 90% of our guests are beginners. For me the most important thing is that the first encounter with a horse remains in memory as a warm and confident recollection. You can’t repeat a first impression. And when, after a ride, people realize that they were controlling the horse themselves — without ropes, without fear — their eyes shine with happiness. We always say: you can do much more than you think. Just believe in yourself!”
