The Khusainovs from the village of Verkhniye Pinyachi, even in their advanced years, impress with their energy.

October 1 is observed as the International Day of Older Persons.

In the village of Verkhnie Pinyachi there is a house that smells of freshly baked goods and wood. A house warmed by the hearts of its owners. Here live Ildus and Zaytuna Khusainov, whose married life is a story of love that overcame every trial.

Their story began like the most romantic fairy tale. Young Ildus walked for about a year from his village Verkhnie Pinyachi to Kadyrovo to see his beloved Zaytuna, covering dozens of kilometers on foot. He still recalls those days with a smile: “I used to go to her even in winter frosts; our feelings must have been that strong.” On April 2, 1971, the Khusainovs lit their family hearth, and from that day they have walked hand in hand, sharing joys and sorrows equally.

Both were hardened by a childhood without fathers, who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Having grown up early, they learned to value family and support, which became the foundation of their strong union. Together the Khusainovs enjoyed life and, as if in a fairy tale, raised three sons, but in July 1987 they had to endure great sorrow when their 11-year-old son Ilgiz was tragically killed under the wheels of a tractor. Such a loss can break anyone, but the Khusainovs found the strength to go on. Their support during that unbearable time was their love and the sense of duty toward their two remaining sons, Ilshat and Ilnar, whom they had to bring up.

The couple devoted their lives to educating children. For decades in the village school Zaytuna Dinmukhametovna opened up the world to children in geography lessons, and Ildus Zakievich in labour classes taught boys not only to work with their hands but instilled in them diligence and responsibility. Graduates and their parents still remember his lessons with gratitude.

Their cozy home is filled with items that Ildus, a handyman, made himself. Windows, doors, trim, chairs, tables and even the first cupboard he made at 17 — all speak to the boundless talent of the homeowner.

The head of the family believes that his talent for carpentry was passed down from his grandfather, who once impressed villagers with handmade furniture. He admits that he equally enjoys working with wood and metal, and it is especially pleasant when there is someone to please with his work.

“Ildus has been skilled at any kind of work since his youth. Even now he cannot sit idle and tries to help his fellow villagers,” Zaytuna says proudly about her husband.

Their home fills with special warmth on weekends when their sons come with their families. It is in these moments, looking at their close-knit family, that the Khusainovs feel most acutely that their true happiness lies here.

“I am happy with my Zaytuna, who became the foundation of our strong family. She raised our sons to be kind, honest, hardworking, and filled my life with meaning. There is nothing more wonderful than living together, respecting and supporting each other,” these simple but wise words of Ildus Zakievich are the main secret of their long-lasting marital happiness.

Today, despite their age, the couple is full of energy and a desire to be useful. At 82, Zaytuna loves working in the garden. And 84-year-old Ildus remains active: when needed he helps the mosque and the village House of Culture.

In difficult times for the country, the couple contribute to assisting participants in the special military operation: Ildus made devices for weaving camouflage nets at the local club, and Zaytuna treats the craftswomen to the most delicious baked goods. Their sense of life is simple and yet great — to be needed by people and to do good deeds.
