A criminal case on the smuggling of jewelry has been sent to court in Tatarstan. According to the transport prosecutor’s office, the defendant is a resident of the republic who, according to investigators, illegally brought into the country jewelry from well-known brands. The incident occurred in July 2025. The woman arrived in Kazan on a flight from the United Arab Emirates. During a customs inspection, bracelets and rings by Cartier with a total value of more than 1.7 million rubles were found in her luggage. However, when crossing the border the passenger did not declare these jewelry items, as required by law. The jewelry was seized and a criminal case was opened against the woman under the article on smuggling. The materials have been sent to the Laishovsky District Court of Tatarstan for consideration on the merits.
