      This time the issue was approached creatively and with the participation of the city’s youngest residents. A new warning inscription calling on pedestrians to be more attentive has appeared on the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Komsomolskaya and Lenina streets. The initiative was implemented as part of a preventative road safety event. Pupils of the “Thumbelina” kindergarten and traffic police inspector Mikhail Kuzmin took an active part. Together they painted a bright warning on the asphalt at the zebra crossing: “Take off your headphones.”

      This simple but important phrase is intended to remind pedestrians, especially young people, of one of the most common dangers. Listening to music or talking on the phone through headphones significantly reduces a person’s vigilance. They may not hear an approaching car, the honk of a horn, or the sound of an engine, which is especially critical when crossing the roadway.

      For the children from the “Thumbelina” kindergarten, this event was not only entertaining but also a very useful practical exercise. They not only watched the process but actively took part in it. In this way, the little ones reinforced lifeline knowledge of the rules for safely crossing the road through play.

      “Actions like this are extremely important,” noted traffic police inspector Mikhail Kuzmin. “They work in two ways: first, we remind pedestrians of the need to be focused on the road, and second, from childhood we form a culture of proper behavior on the roadway in the younger generation. When a child personally takes part in creating such a warning, they remember the rule better.”

      Now this pedestrian crossing on one of Zainsk’s busy streets has become even safer. The new inscription is a bright and timely signal to every resident, making them pause for a second, think, and take off their headphones to ensure their own safety.

      Through joint efforts — by the Traffic Police, educational institutions, and conscientious citizens — the urban environment is becoming more comfortable and safer for everyone.
