      More than 180,000 foreign nationals entered Tatarstan in the first nine months of this year. This was reported by the head of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, Marat Galeev, at a meeting of the Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of the Republic of Tatarstan held in the Zelenodolsk district.

      "The flow of citizens from Uzbekistan increased by 7 thousand, while the number of entrants from far abroad decreased. 5 thousand fewer citizens of China entered, similarly fewer citizens of Iran. 6 thousand fewer citizens of Turkey entered," he said.

      As before, according to Galeev, most foreigners reside in Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Yelabuga, and the Laishevsky, Nizhnekamsky, Pestrechinsky and Zelenodolsky districts.

      "At the same time, we understand that pendular migration is happening in the districts bordering the republic's major cities, which in turn changes the places of their concentration," emphasized the head of the department.

      He noted that this year the number of foreign citizens permanently residing in the republic under a residence permit increased by 24%, but the number of those temporarily residing decreased by 70%.
