Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a temporary ceasefire.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a temporary 48-hour ceasefire, RIA Novosti writes, citing the Pakistani Foreign Ministry. "During this period both sides will make sincere efforts to find a positive solution to this complex but solvable problem through constructive dialogue," the ministry said in a statement. Clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan began on the night of October 15 at around 02:00 local time; they flared up along the entire Durand Line — the unrecognized border between the two countries. Earlier the Pakistani TV channel PTV, citing the country's army, reported that the military returned fire after being shelled by the Taliban in the Kurram sector of the border province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In turn, the Afghan portal Tolo News reported heavy fighting at the Spin Boldak–Chaman border crossing. According to the publication, soldiers and three civilians were killed there, and several children were wounded.
