      In Almetyevsk, investigators opened a criminal case after a ten-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy were poisoned by carbon monoxide. A prosecutor’s office inspection showed that the flue of the gas water heater in the apartment on Tolstoy Street was not secured, the fan was improperly connected, and there was no draft at all, which led to carbon monoxide entering the living area.

      The affected children have been hospitalized in the local hospital, where they are receiving necessary medical care. The apartment has been disconnected from the gas supply. Notably, in June an inspection by the company “Ilmar” declared the equipment to be in working order, but the Housing Inspectorate later identified a formalistic approach to the inspection.
