How to Store Summer Tires: Expert Tips
Proper storage of summer tires is the key to their durability and your safety on the road.
Evgeny Ladushkin, head of LEM Solution, in an exclusive interview with RT spoke about the main rules and common mistakes. The expert singled out two main scenarios depending on the type of wheels:
1. Storage of tires without rims
o Correct: Store them vertically on a special rack or pallet.
o Incorrect: Storing them in a stack, which leads to deformation and the appearance of cracks.
o Conditions: Definitely in a dry, cool place, away from sunlight, moisture and heat sources.
2. Storage of assembled wheels (with rims)
o Correct: Stack them horizontally or hang them.
o Conditions: Also protect them from direct sun and dampness so that the rubber does not dry out and crack.
Where should you not store summer tires?
The expert categorically does not recommend leaving tires on the balcony or in the apartment. It is unhygienic, takes up useful space and can be dangerous because of fumes.
Alternative solutions:
The ideal option is to use seasonal tire storage services or to equip a special area in the garage.
