      The number of accidents involving minors has sharply increased in the region.

      In the first nine months of the current year, 359 road traffic accidents occurred on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, resulting in the deaths of 11 children and injuries to another 390. These alarming figures were announced by Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan Damir Bikmukhametov at a special press conference held by Tatar-inform. Particularly troubling is the fact that the situation has worsened during October: three more children became victims of road accidents, and all of them were passengers in cars. According to Damir Bikmukhametov, child passengers are practically unable to influence the situation when an accident occurs, since their life and health depend solely on the actions of adult road users. More than half of all registered cases involving injured minors occurred precisely because drivers violated the traffic rules. The most frequent risk factors noted include:

      Driving into the oncoming lane (25 accidents)

      Violation of road signs and traffic light signals (17 accidents)

      Incorrect choice of a safe distance to the vehicle ahead (10 accidents).

      These statistics emphasize the importance of raising driving culture among the region’s motorists and the necessity of strict compliance with traffic rules by all road users.
