      Tatarstan police, during a chase involving gunfire, caught up with a reckless driver in Bashkortostan who was driving a car without license plates, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan reported.

      The department noted that a Nissan without license plates attracted the attention of traffic police near the urban-type settlement of Urussu in the Yutazinsky District.

      Police signaled the foreign-made car’s driver to stop, but he ignored their lawful demands and, after accelerating, drove toward the bridge over the Ik River, located on the border with Bashkortostan.

      A chase began during which the reckless driver performed dangerous maneuvers, including driving in the oncoming lane, running a red light and nearly colliding with a patrol car, which created a threat to safety.

      After ensuring no other vehicles were nearby, police fired at the car’s wheels. The offender stopped only in the Bashkir city of Oktyabrsky. His attempt to flee was unsuccessful.

      The detainee turned out to be a 19-year-old resident of Tuymazinsky District, Bashkortostan. He refused to undergo a sobriety test.

      During the inquiry it was found that the young man did not have a driver’s license or an OSAGO insurance policy. He had secretly used a relative’s car and, before the trip, removed the license plates and placed them in the vehicle’s cabin. Seven administrative reports were drawn up against the reckless driver.
