      Specialists from the Rospotrebnadzor Directorate for Tatarstan explained how to protect against infections when visiting baths and saunas. The agency noted that you should take a shower with soap before entering the steam room. Do not use creams and oils before visiting a sauna, as they clog pores. It is better to take two towels with you — one for the steam room and one for the shower — as well as a sheet, a washcloth and rubber slippers. You should also wear a felt or cotton hat to avoid overheating. In the steam room you should avoid skin contact with the benches. Always cover them with your own sheet or towel. Immediately after the steam session you should change into dry clothes to avoid getting chilled. It is important not to walk barefoot in the shower or in the changing room. After the bath you should thoroughly wash and dry your feet, especially between the toes. Rospotrebnadzor also drew attention to the fact that the water in the pool/bathing pool should be clear, without any film or unpleasant odor. Benches, floors and walls should be clean, without mold or slime. Soap and a hand antiseptic should be available. After the session you should take a shower with soap again to wash off sweat and toxins. Then dry all skin thoroughly and inspect your body. At the slightest signs of itching, redness or flaking — you should see a doctor.
